Went to catch Already Famous with GOF. Been wanting to watch mainly because the male lead in the movie is Alien. If you readers still remember, I ever did a post bout him when he was just starting out as a singer, around October 2009. So up till now there hasn't been anything new bout him, just continuing hosting and such. Up until now. Not only is he starring a male lead in 2 movies (Already Famous and another is a taiwan film), but he's gonna be releasing his 2nd album too :).
Already Famous, a local production by budding director Michelle Chong. She funded the whole production herself. Local produced movies have a very different feel than hollywood movies. There's the lack of epicness, but more of the emotional familiarity. It's not of "WA!", but rather of "Awwwww~". Without a huge storyline, a simple moral, punctuated with tonnes of local humour. At one point of time in the movie I was actually thinking to myself I felt that I was like at home watching a local drama. Kinda that feel :).
Ok back to the Lead. Acted as a Kopi Boy. And by boy I meant it. The style he had was sooooooo nerdy, Bob haircut haha cute. Throughout the movie he jus kept doing his "innocent" smile lolz.
One thing I didn't like bout the movie was that it simply kept repeating this music. Initially it was meaningful, but after afew times it got quite irritating. Or maybe it was because I was expecting more use of Alien's songs, of which it was only used once, minus the credits. So sad! It's such a nice song.
What I like bout Alien's songs is that its different. Alien is very well-known for being child in an adult body. He loves to fool around and is simply a child at heart, always happy to talk bout his toys and such.
And its the incorporation of this spirit into his songs that I simply can't resist. The emotions he tries to portray in his songs are very simple, sometimes cute, and he dosen't just state it out. He likes to play with the words, and sometimes add in references to toys. It makes for a more cheerful(child-like even), more upbeat song. It's his way of telling the world his feelings :).
