.:. Lun Nian .:.
Tradition
It's a fact that I just learnt not too long ago, and I'm pretty sure 99% of the people at my age don't it about this thing either. According to the Chinese Lunar Calendar, there is such a thing as "Lun Nian". It's a special year, whereby there is two 4th month in the Lunar Calendar. Kinda like the extra day in April every 4 years, just that this Lun Nian I dun think it's every 4 years.
And per tradition, or rather the tradition of my dialect Hainanese, it's a special month. In which daughters of the family are supposed to bring food stuff back for the mum to "open". What do I mean. Well its the act of opening something that's auspicious I guess. So the food is like egg (dyed red to be even more auspicious), a hainanese snack called "buah", or ketupat (which is a variation of the original food it was supposed to be but sadly couldn't be found in Singapore).
Special huh. Never knew bout such thing. So on sunday basically relatives came over, bringing lots of food to eat yay! But main point of this is the tradition, so I ain't gonna throw pictures of all the food, just those I mentioned above.
Ketupat
Red eggs
Buah (with a half eaten one to show the coconut filling)
