.:. Free .:.
Just because I can.
I am currently quite satisfied with my lifestyle now. There's alot of freedom, coupled with tonnes of free time. And the best thing is that with my tuition assignments relatively up to speed now, I'm at least earning the same as when I was in army. Though I was hoping to get even more assignments (am still trying), but comparatively to when in army I'm having freedom like nobody's business, so nothing to complain really.
Fact being, with my concession in hand, I get to do things that some term as a waste of time. But to me it's simply because I DO have the time to travel and with concession it's sort of free. Like taking MRT just to meet people who are knocking off and then head home. And the reason I like to give for doing such things...Just because I can ;p.
So I literally wake up everyday morning, asking myself what should I do (my tuitions are at night only). Sometimes it's gundam, other times its running not so longD, and there are times where I jus rot. Get's boring after awhile, but like I said, not worth complaining!
One of the perks of such free time is that I have completed the first game that came with my white xbox360. Halo: ODST! Woohoo! Though I think I'm the only existing Halo fan on this planet who just did it. But nonetheless I've finished it. And it's GREAT!!!
Summary: You play as a rookie ODST(Orbital Drop Shock Trooper, name hailed from their favourite point of entry into the warzone, the Hellpods). First mission, drop into enemy covenant carrier floating above New Mombasa and take it out. What actually happened, during the drop, the carrier executed a slipspace jump in the freaking city, and the resulting EMP burst sends you and your team into any and everywhere.
I was quite impressed with how the developers came up with the campaign storyline. It plays out as you being the rookie, going around the barren city looking for clues as to the wherabouts of your teammates. Then whenever you find a clue, you become the teammate himself and play his story. So it not only gives you a whole picture of what happened and where, it also adds playing time and value to the game :).
Also, ODST is the first in the series whereby you play as a "ping kia", or soldier. So no longer Spartan117. No enhanced speed and strength, no shields, no super AI in you etc etc. Essentially meaning, you die easy. Which sort of adds realism to the game. And the fact being this, there was no way I could've chionged the hordes head-on. So alternative, sniping, which happens to be my favourite activity. All the better. Most of the guns provides sniping capabilities to a minimum extent at least, just up my alley :).
So ya, a good storyline, lotsa sniping action and expected better graphics, what's not the enjoy! Now that I've finished ODST, I'm playing Reach now. And oh boy, it's awesome till the last minute how much I've played thus far. The graphics, the story, the sound effect. OMG!!! Will review that when I'm done (coincidentally I'm rushing this blogpost in 30mins so that I can go play Reach before I go sleep!).
Ok so other than meeting peeps at random (just because I can!) and stuck infront of the xbox360, I've been eating too. Let the pictures do the talking.

This and the above waffle is at Frute. A new shop in Far East Square opened by my friend. So you must go support him! Even though I am his friend, I assure you this is unbiased. The food is Relly good, plus value for money. Mainly he sells sandwiches. The one above is Smoked Duck and cranberry. It was sooooo nice! Very fresh, not too thick, and can taste all the individual ingredients. The waffle is also of standard. It's very crispy, with homemade crunchy peanut butter. I think he uses brown sugar for the batter that's why there's a certain fragrance to it. Oh and the mango smoothie. I'm not a sweet tooth person, so it was just nice for me. And it's made from fruits only, no sweetener, Healthy! Plus they have set lunches at $6. Too good. If I'm around the area I'm definitely eating there :).
I also went with my parents on a random teabreak to Bishan Park, Cornerstone Cafe. I didn't really like the place. I seemed to me as the kind of place to relax and have afternoon tea, but it too noisy, with kids running around and such. And obviously that kind of place is too pricy for me to ever go there by myself.

This is their signature Hokaido Squid ($16). Imo it's too salty. And it dosen't come with a sauce, so kinda couldn't taste the Hokaido flown-in squid. Quite a waste of good ingredients.
The brownie was not bad. I mean its vanilla ice-cream on brownie, how wrong could this get. My mum also ordered this French Onion soup. My first time trying, probably my last. Didn't like the taste at all. I get the idea of a soup made from pan-fried onions, it just dosen't suit my taste buds.
Yupz. So that's basically my week, other than watching Hunger games on monday as mentioned in the previous post. One thing to note though. Because of how free I am nowadays, I feel as if time is going haywire. For example I watched Hunger games on monday only, but it felt like it was very long ago. Need to remind myself constantly of the days.
Till next week, or when something interesting comes up :)
