.:. Perspective .:.
the proper or accurate point of view or the ability to see it; objectivity
That's the definition given on dictionary.com, but I don't really agree with it. To me, there's no such thing as a "correct" perspective, its a matter of subjectivity. You see what you want to see. We look at the things around us with our eyes, and yet its our mind that decides on what we actually "see". This matter suddenly came into mind when I started my stint as a teacher assistant. Yet gladly said, perspective can always be changed.
People often complain when given advise that others dun understand them, or rather they would say "try and be in my shoes." (normally from by the young to the old). But have they ever thought about it, what would they be saying if they were in the shoes of those giving the advice? I realized this as I someday I found that things I see were never as I used to see them as. Mainly in the form of advice, those given by teachers i should say. Maybe its because I was given to opportunity of giving advice, rather than jus being there to receive it. Student's might find the notion of using tests to determine a student's understanding as boring and pointless, yet for the teacher its really the only way they can accertain it.
But perspective isn't something that can be changed by talk alone. Its something that has to be experienced, otherwise no one will believe you, as per the case now. So with that said, there's really nothing you can do, except to wait, see n experience it yourself.
As a kid, our perspectives are driven into us by our parents. Like an empty sponge, kids absorb in whatever their parents preach to them, like an unfiltered water system, everything goes in. How many of us have ever heard and believed that "ah pu ne ne" are bad (no racism in mind). Much like the clothes kids wear, its the parents that choose the clothes for them, those brightly colored ones, with cute cartoon characters that kids adore because their parents chose for them.
Decked in black, skinnies, with bling metal chains hanging loosely around obstructing their movement, tats the image teens aspire. Their tee either be bold in color, screaming for attention or have some pattern/design on it that adults would think otherwise appropriate. As per their dressing, teens tend to focus on the obvious, or in another way what seems most prominent or important to them. They see what the masses see, the majority views, agreeing that following the crowd is generally the best or hippest way to be.
White collar adults, ironed shirts and black pants. The professional image depicts their perspectives on things, how they look onto the smaller details of things, showing that they have experienced more to realize that such bold colors or patterns are but a meer facade and its the details that matters, as seen from the buttons or cufflinks that's the onli accessories that adults fiddle with.
From kid to adult, we change our clothing like we change our perspectives on things. Its not a matter of who tell us what to wear or see, but who experienced enough to know which perspective suits him/her the most. There's no such thing as right or wrong perspective, just what you feel is correct.
